After a sleepless night due to a hoe in my dorm and me "giving her a piece of my mind" at 4am, I got up early for my tour around Harlem and my gospel church service.
Now I booked an English tour but unlucky for me I got stuck on the German bus. And unfortunately I was the only English speaking person on the tour which meant 80% of the tour was in German.
I'd like to say I am now fluent in German but I spent most of the time giggling at the pronunciation of the words.
We took a brief walk around Harlem and I can definitely say its one of the prettiest places I've ever seen.
Being so close to Manhatten, its the complete opposite. Theres no sky scrapers, every street is lined with blossoming trees and everything is so clean.
You're probably thinking Harlem has a bad wrap but it actually changed several years ago. A small house sets you back about 2.3 million which is dirt cheap compared to Manhattan.
While in Harlem I attended a Gospel chuch service. All I can say it has been the complete highlight of my trip.
Most of the service was about embracing change, and this resonated with me a ridiculous amount.
The whole service was incredibly powerful and moving to the point I even choked up a little. We even got to sing Oh Happy Days with the choir at the end which we could film so I will try and post it on here at some point.
You should also google the ARC choir as they were amazing and all recovering drug addicts which made the experience even more special.
So after a wonderful and eye opening morning I headed back to Chelsea to stroll the High Line which is above ground old train tracks turned into a beautiful garden type walk way. It's definitely a cool way to see the Chelsea district.
Tonight I headed to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks vs Charlotte. It's was such a cool atmosphere and I'm so glad I went even though the Knicks lost.
Anyway back in Phily now with my beloved Flyers....who might make it into the playoffs.... WOOO
Lauren
